Learning Support

My name is Michelle McCoy and I am the SENCo here in St. Joseph’s Grammar/ Scoil Iósaef. My role is to ensure that any child with an additional need, whether it be an educational need or a medical need, is supported and enabled to reach their full potential, academically and holistically.
As SENCo, my role is:

-
To actively lead and coordinate our Learning Support provision;
-
To act as a valuable point of contact for pupils, parents, teaching staff, non-teaching staff and outside support services in relation to Learning Support for pupils of our school;
-
To enable our pupils to meet their full potential by removing any barriers, or potential barriers, on their learning journey;
-
To continually monitor and evaluate SEN provision; identifying and promoting best practice.
In terms of meeting all needs and more specifically, additional needs, here at St Joseph’s, we are proud of our dedicated teaching staff. In addition, we have an excellent team of Learning Support Assistants who go above and beyond to support and help nurture the children in their care.
It is an honour, not only have been entrusted with this vital role in St. Joseph’s, but also to work with such a dedicated and progressive staff who never give up and are fully committed to meeting the needs of the pupils in our school.
