School Counselling

As there are many factors impacting on young people’s lives today a counselling service is provided to support and empower young people at challenging times in their lives.  The counselling service is provided by Familyworks School Counselling Service.  This service is provided weekly during school hours, to students who may be in need of support by Mrs. Karen McKillion who is a professionally qualified counsellor committed to child protection and clinical excellence in her work with young people.  The service is non-judgemental, confidential and free.

Students are seen by appointment through self-referral or referral from a member of staff, carers or parents.

If a student requests counselling and is able to understand what is involved in the process, then they have the right to access counselling.  School, parents or carers may not deny them this right.  However parental support is more likely to contribute to a positive outcome.

We are always happy to discuss concerns parents/carers may have about the counselling service.  If you have any questions about this service, feel free to contact Mrs A. McGleenan, Vice-Principal.
